Spritzy Green Tea, Elderflower and Grapefruit Mocktail

Yield:

1 drink

Soothing green tea blended with floral sweetness and a fizzy citrus kick makes a refreshing, sophisticated sip. Allow time to prepare the sugared thyme garnish ahead. To make it a cocktail, just add 3 ounces of floral gin and, if desired, replace the elderflower syrup with elderflower liqueur.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Luzianne® Green Tea, brewed and chilled
  • 1 ounce elderflower syrup
  • 3 ounces grapefruit soda (we used Fever Tree brand)
  • 1 sprig sugared thyme, for garnish, recipe follows
  • 1 grapefruit wedge, freeze-dried or fresh, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine chilled tea, elderflower syrup and ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds or until chilled.
  2. Strain into a glass filled with ice and top off with grapefruit soda.
  3. Garnish with sugared thyme and a wedge of grapefruit.

Sugared Thyme

  • 3 long sprigs fresh thyme
  • ¼ cup superfine sugar
  1. Dip thyme in water and sprinkle all over with superfine sugar.
  2. Transfer to a parchment or wax paper lined plate or baking sheet and allow sugar to dry completely, about 1 hour.
